Modern Obstetrics & Gynecology of North Atlanta: Leading the Future of Women’s Healthcare

No matter what her stage of life, every woman deserves the very best healthcare services.

Modern Obstetrics & Gynecology of North Atlanta (Modern OB/GYN) has a dedicated and dynamic team of physicians and other healthcare providers who are committed to providing personal and compassionate care to every patient.

“We have taken every step to ensure that our services are the very best – from routine check-ups to comprehensive gynecological services, including family planning, minimally invasive surgery and comprehensive prenatal care,” explained Dr. John Reyes, who co-founded Modern OB/GYN with his wife, Dr. Ingrid Reyes.

“Our goal has always been to bring the best care to women of all ages, in an environment that is comfortable and open, where candid conversations can take place, and everyone feels appreciated, listened to, and care for, as an individual,” Dr. Ingrid explained.

A Family Affair

From a young age, Dr. John Reyes had many medical professionals in his family to inspire him. Dr. John is one of six obstetricians/gynecologists in his family. John, his wife Ingrid, his father, his sister, his brother, and his sister-in-law have together delivered over 20,000 babies.

Since its founding in October 2012, The Reyes’ practice has grown over the years, to meet and exceed the expectations of a changing community.

“We are always pushing ourselves for how to give the best care possible. Ingrid and I wanted to know how we best serve the women of Johns Creek, North Fulton, and South Forsyth. We seek to provide the best technology and updated medicine while preserving one-on-one service. The community has embraced our practice, and we are very grateful,” Dr. John explained.

“The addition of four physicians and a midwife are part of our commitment to those we serve,” Dr. John Reyes added.  “We pride ourselves on providing everyone with an excellent patient experience while under our care.”

State-of-the-art Surgical Options

Minimally-invasive surgery refers to in-office procedures which include treatment of heavy bleeding with endometrial ablation and incision-free permanent sterilization.   As the only practice based in Johns Creek using the DaVinci robotic surgical system, the surgeons at Modern OB/GYN are able to provide their patients with groundbreaking alternatives to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. The use of the DaVinci system allows the surgeons of Modern OB/GYN to perform hysterectomies and removal of fibroids through a few small incisions.  Most patients can expect to return to their home and back to their usual activities within a couple of weeks of surgery.

“In-office procedures in our surgical suite are a safe and excellent option for many patients. It’s great to be able to offer these procedures to women because they can get back to their lives so quickly, oftentimes even the same day. And typically, because these are seen as office visits, the cost to the patient is only their co-pay which makes such a big difference,” says Dr. Ingrid.

“Minimally invasive surgery allows us to perform complex procedures through either small incisions or no incisions at all. Patients benefit by having less pain, shorter recovery times, and few or no scars. In office procedures also allow patients to avoid general anesthesia, hospital costs, and a stay in the hospital” stated Dr. John.

Delivery by your doctor, not a stranger.

Establishing a good, solid, and trustworthy relationship between a pregnant woman and her delivering physician is extremely important.

“We deliver only our own patients; there won’t ever be a surprise when it comes time to delivery.  Only the doctors of our practice will deliver you—this is often not the case with other practices,” explained Dr. Ingrid.  “Finding the balance of safe, appropriate medical care with the personal, special relationship of obstetric care is what is so unique about this field.  We all love getting to see these young families grow!”

Hundreds of pictures of patients and their children adorn the walls of the offices at Modern OB/GYN, reminding all who walk in of their commitment to each individual.

“We really value educating our patients, so they understand their medical issues, why certain treatments are better than others, and what their options are for treatment,” added Dr. Ingrid.  “A close relationship with our patients and their caretakers is imperative in our ability to establish the partnership we seek, as we are all part of the healthcare team.”

The practice counts with the services of a truly international group of dedicated physicians and a nationally board-certified midwife.  Joining Drs. John and Ingrid Reyes are Dr. Christy Kenkel, Dr. Annie Kim, Dr. Natu Mmbaga, Dr. Stacey Pereirra, and Nuria Nelkin, CMW (Certified Midwife).

Modern Obstetrics & Gynecology has an “old school medicine” approach to patient relationships, but an advanced approach to surgical techniques.
